Co-op Services Credit Union donates $7,000 in scholarships
Livonia,
MI (August 6, 2001) Co-op Services Credit Union
will mail $7,000 in scholarship funds this month to the designated
colleges and universities of eight outstanding students from the
Detroit metropolitan area.
Co-op Services,
a Livonia-based credit union, has donated a total of $49,000 since
its scholarship program began in 1995.
Scholarships
are awarded in levels from $500 for one year and up to $4,000
for four years. Students who receive renewable scholarships are
required to maintain academic standards.
Co-op
Services President and CEO Bob Huston says, "Providing scholarships
to such outstanding credit union member-scholars is a highlight
of each year." Scholarship winners and their families are
specially recognized at the credit unions annual meeting
held in the spring.
Recipients
of renewable scholarships totaling $4,000 each are Adam Murray
of Redford (Detroit Catholic Central 98), Kristin Naragon
of Grosse Ile (Grosse Ile High School 99), Lauren Mardirdsian
of Grosse Pointe Park (Grosse Pointe South High School 00),
and Arvena Washington of Detroit (Bishop Gallagher High School
01).
Winners of
$1,000 scholarships are Steven Kreis of Redford (Detroit Catholic
Central 01) and Catherine Smith of Livonia (Churchill High
School 01). Receiving $500 scholarships are Anna Maria Arciero
of Redford (Redford Union High School 01) and Nikita Shah
of Canton (Plymouth-Canton High School 01).
