The resolution
was given in a special presentation at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn.
Presenting
the resolution on behalf of the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce were
Chamber President David Ippel, vice president of Oakwood Healthcare
Inc., and President-Elect Joseph Murgalo, general manager of the
Hyatt Regency Dearborn. Accepting the resolution on behalf of
the American Arab Chamber were its Executive Director Nasser Beydoun
and Chairman Ahmad Chebbani, president of Omnex Accounting and
Tax Services in Dearborn.
Ippel
explained, "In view of the recent intense media attention
given to the Arab population worldwide and, subsequently, to American
Arabs locally, the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce felt it important
to demonstrate support for our neighboring Chamber and for its
members who contribute daily to the economic well-being and fabric
of this community."
Murgalo added
that it is Dearborns ethnic diversity that makes the community
such a vital contributor to the economic prosperity of southeastern
Michigan. He said, "We have an opportunity to serve as a
model to the world of how people of different backgrounds work
and live together in harmony and peace."
In accepting
the resolution, Chebbani said, "We welcome the Dearborn Chambers
support. Our American Arab members are eager to contribute to
the economic prosperity and social harmony of this community."
The American
Arab Chamber of Commerce has worked diligently to build economic
prosperity for its 1,000 members who represent a large cross-section
of southeastern Michigan businesses. It has strongly condemned
the recent horrendous terrorist actions against the United States.
The mission
of the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, which has approximately 600
members, is to provide leadership by developing a unified voice
for member businesses through promotion, assistance and the development
of partnerships.
