Community Federal Credit Union Participates in "Make a Difference Day" Plymouth, MI (Nov. 5, 2001) – Staff from Community Federal Credit Union joined more than 2.6 million volunteers nationwide in the 11th Annual Make a Difference Day--celebrated this year on Saturday, Oct. 27. Sponsored by USA WEEKEND magazine and the Points of Light Foundation, it is the country’s largest day of volunteering. Community Federal staff participated through a variety of projects at local offices and in the communities where their members live and work. Their efforts were part of more than 362 projects organized throughout Michigan. Given the opportunity to wear jeans to work, staffers contributed $800 to the Make A Difference Day Scholarship Fund to help families of the Sept. 11 tragedy. The credit union matched employee contributions for a total donation of $1,600. In Plymouth, Community Federal staff joined the efforts of the Plymouth Community United Way during "Make a Difference Day." Along with more than 200 community volunteers, they helped nearly 65 senior citizens get ready for winter by raking leaves, trimming bushes, changing light bulbs and replacing smoke detector batteries. In Gaylord, Community Federal’s northern Michigan staff collected bags of personal care items for a local senior citizen home. With more than 33,000 members and total assets exceeding $245 million, Community Federal provides financial services to members through a variety of automated and online services and at six branch locations.
