Co-op Services Credit Union Branches Spread Holiday Cheer

Livonia, MI (Dec. 11, 2002) – Co-op Services Credit Union is spreading holiday cheer at each of its five branches in Western Wayne and Oakland Counties, by inviting members to participate in a variety of charitable giving programs.

Credit Union CEO Robert Huston said, "Our members, board of directors and staff have always been generous in their contributions to the community. Credit unions are truly about "people helping people," and this is a great time of year to reinforce that philosophy and to help others in need."

Two of the programs supported this year include the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots and the 2002 Tree of Memories for Community Hospice. The Toys for Tots program includes collection of new, unwrapped toys at each credit union office to be distributed as Christmas gifts to children in local communities.

A Tree of Memories is located at each of the credit union’s branches in Dearborn, Livonia, Walled Lake, Westland and Wyandotte. Members are invited to dedicate an angel, with a donation of any amount, to place on the tree in memory or honor of a loved one. Funds raised directly benefit the homebound and terminally ill patients of Community Hospice and Home Care Services.

Co-op Services Credit Union is also supporting two Rotary projects that benefit charitable programs locally and internationally. The first includes the sale of a specially produced Detroit Jazz CD to benefit Dearborn Rotary and Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate polio worldwide. Credit Union staff is also distributing coupons to members for free photos with Santa at the Light Fest in the Park, located on Hines Drive in Western Wayne County. Proceeds from the Santa photos benefit Dearborn Rotary service projects.
